With support from the State Farm Companies Foundation, the National Service-Learning Partnership (NSLP) at the Academy for Educational Development is proud to announce the winners of the 2010 We Are a Solution: Youth Changing the World Through Service-Learning Multimedia Showcase!
Each of the winners will receive $500 to help support their service-learning efforts in their school/organization.
Middle School Division
Tchefuncte Middle School (Mandeville, LA)
Tchefuncte Middle School scored enough points with the judges that their slight loss in votes did not affect the outcome. The judges stated that "The students' personal touch and emotional connection with their project was charming," and that "this fantastic project...makes me want to go do the same thing!"
High School Division
Clarkstown High School North (New City, NY)
Clarkstown High School North scored both the highest score with the judges and the most votes from the public. The judges said that this "extremely touching" video "is the best video of the bunch by far. This video shows the passion that the whole school has for SL and this global issue."

Delay in winner announcement
We are sorry about the delay in the announcement of the winners. We have the results tabulated, but are still waiting on the final okay from our sponsoring partners. As soon as we have this, we will move forward with the announcements and awards.

Everyday in schools and communities across the country—and in fact, the world—young people are daring to make a difference by tackling the challenge to create solutions to these important community problems.
Youth engaged in service-learning do not consider themselves to be “the leaders of tomorrow” because so many are stepping forward as leaders today. Through service-learning, young people are taking what they learn in the classroom and translating it into powerful ideas and action to create change in their own communities.

Vote for your favorite entry in the 2009 We Are a Solution: Youth Changing the World Through Service-Learning Multimedia Showcase. Browse through all of the entries in each category, and then vote (on the right hand side) for your favorite entry in each category. Pass this on to your friends, classmates, and community members. Remember, it is ONE vote per person!
If you are a school or organization planning to use ONE computer or IP address for MULTIPLE voters, please email nslp@aed.org and we will send you an alternate method to vote. We will combine the votes from the multiple user poll with the votes being captured by the on-screen poll (see the sidebar) to determine the top vote-getters for each category. NOTE: the sidebar poll may not necessarily reflect the total number of votes received. The top vote-getters for each category will be announced on March 16, 2009.
